HEALTH Recommends Beach Closings

The Department of Health (HEALTH) recommended the closure of FORT ADAMS STATE PARK in NEWPORT and MACKEREL COVE BEACH in JAMESTOWN to swimming due to high bacteria counts. Officials will continue to monitor the water quality and recommend re-opening when the areas are safe for swimming. Water quality analysis is conducted by the HEALTH laboratory or a state certified laboratory.

The following beaches are still closed:
GOVERNOR NOTTE PARK BEACH in NORTH PROVIDENCE
