HEALTH Recommends Beach Closings / Openings

HEALTH officials recommended re-opening CITY PARK BEACH in WARWICK, EASTON'S BEACH in NEWPORT, FORT ADAMS STATE PARK in NEWPORT, GODDARD MEMORIAL STATE PARK in WARWICK, LINCOLN WOODS STATE PARK BEACH in LINCOLN , PEABODYS BEACH in MIDDLETOWN and THIRD BEACH in MIDDLETOWN for swimming. This recommendation is based on results from water samples that show bacteria levels within acceptable limits. HEALTH will continue to monitor the water quality regularly to assure safe bathing throughout the summer season.

The Department of Health (HEALTH) recommended the closure of KENT COUNTY YMCA in Warwick to swimming due to high bacteria counts. Officials will continue to monitor the water quality and recommend re-opening when the areas are safe for swimming.

The following beaches are still closed:
ATLANTIC BEACH CLUB BEACH in MIDDLETOWN
GOVERNOR NOTTE PARK BEACH in NORTH PROVIDENCE
