SPF refers to how much longer you can stay in
the sun before turning pink (sunburn). An SPF of 15 means that you can
theoretically spend 15 times as long as without the sunscreen before getting
pink.
Look
for a sunscreen product with both UVB and UVA protection and a sun protection
factor (SPF) of 15 or greater.
Apply
sunscreen at least 20 minutes before going into the sun, and reapply generously
after swimming. Reapply sunscreen throughout the day.
Remember
that perspiration will reduce the effectiveness of your sunscreen.
Sunscreen
is most effective when applied liberally and left on the surface of the skin.
Do NOT rub it in thoroughly.
